Boxy, utilitarian like a tank, yet tiny and concealable. Designed for spies and Covert Ops but now the iconic weapon of drug-dealers, gangbangers and anti-heroes. This is the new NS2 MAC-11 by KWA.
http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info ... s_id=31497Real SteelThe Military Armament Corporation Model 11 or MAC-11 is the little brother of the MAC-10 which was a .45 cal machine pistol nearly identical looking, though physically larger. Originally developed as a covert Personal Defense Weapon, able to delver an intimidating amount of lead.
The MAC-11 was chambered from the compact .380 ACP round, also called the 9mm Browning round, which is a shorter cartridge than the more common 9mm Parabellum round used in the GLOCK and Berretta M9.
The PackageThe package comes with the manual, gun, a 40 round double-stack magazine, hop-up adjustment tool. Silicone oil and bag of sample BB's. The only external indication that this is the NS2 version is the sticker on side of the box.
ExternalsLike the older KWA MAC11, the trigger, mag, bolt, folding stock and cocking bolt are metal but the body is actually polymer over a heavy, rigid metal frame. The plastic itself is very, very high quality, and can easily be mistaken for metal, even when holding it.
The wire stock pulls out and is unlocked via a button on the underside of the frame. The stock arm swings open by pinching the base.
A unique feature of the MAC11 is the bolt-head type charging handle on the top of the gun with a notched to view your front sights. By turning it 90º it locks the bolt, blocks your view of the front sight, indicating its setting.
The only other safety feature is a trigger safety switch above the trigger on the right side of the frame, which locks the trigger and restrains the bolt (though this can be forced so if cocking is difficult make sure you're safety is off.) The selector switch is on the left side of the gun.
You cock the gun by pulling back the cocking handle back, and like the real open-bolt design of the Mac 11 the bolt stays in the rear open position until fired. In the real gun, this helps keep the barrel cool allowing a higher rate of fire. In the airsoft version you must cock the gun first BEFORE you insert your mag because there isn't enough play to insert it otherwise. Forcing your mag in a closed bolt could damage the air nozzle.
Internals/PerformanceThis MAC11 uses KWA new NS2 gas channeling/blowback system which gives the new MAC11 a stronger blowback feel and more constant FPS. There is very little external difference between the original and the new NS2 magazine. But an older magazine will not close or fire in a newer NS2 MAC 11.
The hop-up is a custom ratchet ring, which can only be adjusted with the included tool, not something you want to lose in the field or misplace so keep this safe. Stock FPS indoors was 320FPS. Tested outdoors on a warm day (+85º F) the gun was firing above 365FPS. We could easily hit man sized targets at around 100ft; surprising for a short barreled weapon.
The rate of fire was a blazingly fast 28.65 RPS, which means you could empty a mag in less than 2 seconds.
ConclusionsCompact, thuggish, in a word MAC 11 is the Mac Daddy.
• The MAC11 is an exceptionally compact SMG, only slightly larger than a full sized 1911.
• It feels very well balanced in the hand making it an ideal CQB weapon.
• It's has a strong, crisp blowback and a high ROF in full-auto.
• It's solidly built and realistic.
• Half the price of a GBB MP7
